Here's What We Did Together in the 2019 BCC

Submitted by Duncan Green

The mileage-tracking part of the Bicycle Commuter Challenge is over for this year, and now it's time to tally up the team standings and do our prize drawings to announce at the Prize Hoopla on Saturday, June 22 at 9:30 a.m. sharp, at the Olympia Farmers Market. What we know now is how much we all rode in May and the impacts it has for us and our community and planet. Including the 196 kids who participated in the School Bike Challenge, 1,087 riders logged trips on 10,975 days and rode 87,720 miles on their bikes for transportation. Together, we reduced air and water pollution, benefitted personal and social health, and prevented over 43 tons of CO2 from entering our atmosphere. Way to go, Thurston County practical cyclists!
