What is the Youth Bike Summit?
The Youth Bike Summit (YBS) is a 3-day national conference bringing together students, educators, and advocates to give youth a voice. YBS is hosted by the National Youth Bike Council (NYBC), which envisions a world where young people learn to create meaningful community engagement through bicycling and their leadership skills.
This year, NYBC is encouraging communities to host their own mini version of the Youth Bike Summit to show off youth excellence through bicycling in their city. Walk N Roll will be hosting a Big Ride in honor of the YBS this year! The Big Ride will be Sunday, May 31, and it will be a chance for participants to gather and ride in the name of youth excellence.

About our Ride
Join us for an afternoon of fun, biking, and celebrating youth excellence from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 31. We will meet at the Chambers Lake Trailhead of the Chehalis Western Trail (3725 14th Ave SE, Olympia) at 12:45 p.m., and we will roll out at 1 p.m. Our goal is to bike North along the trail to the Woodard Bay trailhead. This ride is family-friendly and good for riders of most ages and abilities. We can’t guarantee this route and pace will be accommodating of balance bikes, however.
Participants should come prepared with:
- A bike and helmet in good condition. For this event, Walk N Roll will provide the option for participants to borrow a bike and helmet, too!
- If you need to borrow a bike, please fill out this form by Wednesday, May 27. Quantities of each size of bike are limited and we will reach out to you via email to confirm we have the bike you need.
- A full water bottle and a snack (or two).
- Clothing layers in case of weather shifts.
